What Are Websites?

Home / Web Design / What Are Websites?

A connected group of pages on the World Wide Web regarded as a single entity, usually maintained by one person or organization and devoted to a single topic or several closely related topics.

To understand websites you can use the construction of a house as an analogy. The frame of your structure is HTML and PHP or .NET (Windows servers). The electrical, plumbing and anything that makes the house work would be scripting languages, such as Javascript or jQuery. Finally the paint, landscaping, fixtures and anything that makes a house a home is analogous to CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) on websites.

All of these components are compiled and rendered via a browser as a website.

It doesn’t matter how many times I have to click, as long as each click is a mindless, unambiguous choice.

STEVE KRUG

At EVisions we practice a minimalist web design strategy, which can be defined loosely as one that seeks to simplify interfaces by removing unnecessary elements or content that does not support user tasks.

Our emphasis is the production of clean, modern, functional websites that remain relevant and engaging.
